Q. Is there some way to tell if people really love you?

A. Several years ago I read a couple of sentences by an unknown writer: “When you are immensely important to another person, they will always make time to connect with you. No excuses, no broken promises, no lies. Time always reveals what you really meant to another person.” Over time, I have found those words to be on the money. I pay attention to them. They help me determine if I am genuinely loved or if the person is simply flattering me for some reason or just staying connected intermittently because he or she wants something from me. Genuine love never dies. It can be killed by inattention.
