Each DVD is prepared in approximate 30-minute segments. This makes it easy to show one segment at a time, followed by a 20- 30-minute discussion of practical applications to everyday living.
Suggested strategies for utilizing the DVDs effectively
Community residents show them to friends and neighbors at a weekly morning “coffee-klatch” or “afternoon tea,” followed by informal discussion.
Chaplains at Leavenworth Penitentiary and at OSCI in Oregon show segments to inmates on a weekly basis followed by a 20-30-minute discussion group. The sessions have proved so popular that additional meetings have been scheduled.
Residents in retirement-center complexes show DVD segments to other residents followed by informal discussions.
High-school teachers and administrators show DVD segments during assembly periods, for classes, as extra-credit projects, and in PTA meetings followed by group discussion.
Clerical personnel from a variety of denominations utilize DVD segments as the basis for mid-week or other church-related meetings followed by a 20-30-minute directed discussion.
Local public televisions stations show the DVDs on a weekly basis, rotating the topics periodically.
Organizations with in-house closed-circuit television play DVD segments for viewing by patients, clients, residents, or program participants.
Health Professionals play the DVDs in their office waiting room for viewing by patients, family members, et cetera.
Adult Learning
In order to really internalize the information presented and apply it practically on a daily basis, the average adult needs to be exposed to the information at least four times. Play the entire series and then repeat at intervals.
Continuing Education Credit
C. E. Credit is available for any DVD of 50-minutes or longer for a minimal charge of $5 per contact hour for nurses (CA BRN) and MFTs / LCSWs. (CA BBS).
Organizations may show the DVDs for California Continuing Education Credit—BRN and BBS. A completed C.E. evaluation along with $5 for each hour requested must be returned by the organization to Realizations Inc for each person who watched the DVD and requested contact hours for C.E. credit.
