New Recipe
I
have concocted a great vegan recipe for Corn Chowder (a favorite
of mine) which, by special request, is now posted in the Q
& A section of my web site. It's worth a look--and a taste!

Brain Benders
Some people can hardly wait
for more Brain Benders. Others don't even want to try solving
them. Still others like to create them but avoid what they
didn't write themselves. Why not give them a try? My solutions--you
may think of other options--will be found in the next month's
Bulletin.

News Note
As
you may already know, the brain and male/female differences
is one of my favorite topics, and one which is very well represented
in the questions I receive by e- mail. You may want to check
out a book entitled: The Essential Difference--The Truth about
the Male and Female Brain. In the midst of controversy and
confusion, this 2003 release is a welcome offering.
According to the author, Simon Baron-Cohen, there are five
areas to consider when defining one's own "sex":
- Genetic (chromosomal pattern that is set at conception)
- Gonadal (testes or ovaries that produce appropriate hormones)
- Genital (external genitalia to match chromosomal pattern)
- Brain type (cognitive description of a "systemizing male
brain" or an "empathizing female brain")
- Sex-typical behaviors (usually deriving from brain type)
Prenatal testosterone appears to be one important variable
in determining one's brain type and/or sex- typical behavior.
Myriad variations can be found on our planet. And yes, a female-type
brain can reside in a male-type body and vice versa.
Point to Ponder
Make
the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you. --Ralph
Waldo Emerson
Some of the saddest tears ever shed over graves are for what
might have been. Some of those tears can be avoided. Are you
doing something every day to further identify, honor, and
live your innate giftedness? Are you encouraging others to
do the same--even when their giftedness differs from yours?
