Seminar Update
I
always enjoy sharing brain function information with teachers because
they have a golden opportunity to model brain-function information
and to positively impact the life of every student. This month,
on August 7-8, I spoke to the faculty and staff at Union College
(Lincoln, Nebraska) at their annual colloquium. Dan Lynn, Chair
of the Fine Arts Division, coordinated my two-day seminar.
In addition, by invitation of Keith Jacobson, senior pastor
of the Union College Church, I was the featured speaker at
both services August 9, 2003.
Here's a heads up for September so you can plan ahead. Russ and
Cheryl Potter and The Concerned Group are sponsoring the "Gender
Uniqueness-- Understanding Male/Female Differences" seminar. It
is scheduled for 9am-4:30pm on Saturday, September 13, in Siloam
Springs, Arkansas. Call 1-800-447-4332 to register. Participants
receive an illustrated syllabus.
For other seminar dates--possibly one near you!-- please check

Brain Benders
Have
you ever been offered a palate cleanser between courses at a restaurant?
It is usually some type of sorbet, designed to wake up the taste
buds and get them ready for the next gourmet treat.
Those
of you who have attended my seminars will recall my frequent use
of Brain Benders. Think of them as a brain cleanser, designed to
wake up the neurons and get them ready for the next cerebral puzzle.

News Note
Maltreatment at an early age can have enduring negative effects
on a child's brain development and function. You may want to read
an article by Martin H. Teicher entitled: "The Neurobiology of Child
Abuse" (68 Scientific American March 2002).

Point to Ponder
"A child's life is like a piece of paper on which others leave
a mark." (Chinese Proverb)
What marks are you leaving on the life-pages of others?
